Rajouri, Aug 28: The road connecting Manjakote to Jamola, Ladiyal, Upper Morhian, Chutroo and Bharote Gali is currently under construction. While certain sections of the road are in good condition, there are several patches along the route that are in dilapidated condition. Moreover, small bridges have not been constructed over water bodies which leads to water accumulating on the road, rendering it impassable during heavy rains
“The poor condition of the road has disrupted transportation in the region, significantly affecting the lives of the residents. School-going children, in particular, face immense difficulties as they are forced to traverse a distance of 5-6 kilometers on foot without any means of transportation. This arduous journey becomes even more treacherous during the rainy season when the road becomes impassable due to flooded sections,” a local resident said.
“The water flowing on the road during rainfall not only hampers transportation but also causes further damage to the road. Constructing small bridges over these water bodies and establishing proper drainage channels in the surrounding areas should be prioritized,” he said.
“It is imperative that the higher authorities take immediate action in addressing these concerns. They should direct the responsible contractor to make road repairs as early as possible,” he added.
