Shopian, Sep 2: In a remarkable feat of medical excellence, District Hospital Shopian achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting its first-ever Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy under high thoracic spinal anaesthesia.
The authorities at the DH Shopian said that this groundbreaking procedure, performed on a young female patient, is a testament to the unwavering dedication and expertise of the hospital’s surgical and anaesthesia teams.
The surgical team, led by the talented Dr Seth Mujtaba and supported by Dr Misba (DRP), undertook this pioneering approach to address a gallbladder issue in their patient. Dr Aijaz, at the helm of the anaesthesia department, carried out this remarkable procedure along with the contribution of Dr Shabir Ahmad Langoo, the visionary behind this mission.
The team’s collaborative efforts also included the skilful participation of Dr Mudasir, Dr Zahid, and the dedicated paramedical staff, comprising Ajaz (OT Incharge), Fayaz, Umar Fayaz, Shakir and Nazir Ahmad.
The hospital authorities acknowledged the invaluable logistic support of Dr Shafi Naikoo, the consultant surgeon, and MS Dr Rubina for making this milestone possible. “This achievement speaks volumes about the District Hospital Shopian’s commitment to offering advanced and patient-centric healthcare,” they said, adding, “By embracing innovative techniques and fostering a culture of excellence, the hospital not only serves its community but also sets a remarkable example for healthcare institutions in rural areas.”
District Hospital Shopian’s successful Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy under high thoracic spinal anaesthesia is more than just a medical milestone; it is a testament to the unwavering dedication and collective expertise of the healthcare professionals who continually push the boundaries of medical science to ensure safer and more comfortable surgical experiences for their patients, the hospital management said.
