The smart city project that is going on at present in Srinagar has come up with the attractive spots so far while some of the projects that are under construction are also set to attract more visitors from the local areas here or from outside Jammu and Kashmir. The projects are being illuminated efficiently and have given a further boost to the footfall of tourists in Jammu & Kashmir. So far, the J&K has recorded a footfall of nearly one crore and the incumbent administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is expecting to break the previous year’s record of 1.88 crore tourists here. Amidst developmental boom, the government has been making efforts to eradicate unemployment completely in Jammu and Kashmir. Similarly, the reports suggest that the administration in Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, is coming up with a Sunday market in Shehr-e-Khaas, which would accommodate the increasing number of street vendors and also assist them to earn livelihood for their families. The Sunday market already exists from Polo View to Hari Singh High Street here but one more addition to the market would likely bring further livelihood opportunities to the people in Srinagar. However, there is a need to take prior steps in this regard like shifting the traffic and other related things so that the already congested roads will not witness frequent traffic mess, which would give a tough time to the people. The decision must be taken after thorough discussions and keeping in mind all the issues, so that the people will not be forced to face hardships.
