Poonch, Sep 7: Poonch Thursday witnessed celebrations on the auspicious occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna. The festivities, marked by fervor and gaiety, captivated the hearts of thousands of devotees who gathered from every nook and corner of Poonch district and beyond to seek the divine blessings of Lord Krishna.
The grand celebration commenced with a sacred Pooja, invoking the divine presence of Lord Krishna.
The day unfolded with an Akhand-Kirtan, a continuous devotional singing of hymns and praises, which resonated throughout the temple premises.
Deputy Commissioner of Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary (IAS), Senior Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar(JKPS), DPEO Narinder Mohan Suri, along with various district officials, religious leaders, President VHP, Nishu Gupta, President SDS, Khetarpal, President DGPC Poonch, Narinder Singh, prominent citizens, and devotees from across the district and beyond, actively participated in the festivities, fostering an atmosphere of unity and harmony.
In a heartwarming address at Geeta Bhawan, Deputy Commissioner Yasin M. Choudhary extended warm wishes of Janmashtami to all the devotees and the people of Poonch. He expressed his delight at witnessing the spirit of brotherhood and camaraderie among the participants, celebrating the divine birth of Lord Krishna.

The procession traversed through the streets of Poonch city, captivating the onlookers with its grandeur and devotion, before culminating back at Geeta Bhavan Poonch.
The route of the procession was adorned with numerous food stalls, lovingly set up by the local residents, who welcomed the devotees with immense enthusiasm and hospitality. The aroma of traditional delicacies filled the air, adding to the festive spirit and spreading joy among the participants.
