Srinagar, Sep 9: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), Alok Kumar on Saturday said that the fire incidents across Jammu & Kashmir have reduced by 31 per cent this year.
“Against 59000 fire incidents last year, J&K has recorded only 4000 incidents this year, which is 31 per cent reduction in such cases in the past one year,” Kumar said, adding that the figure is from August 2022-July 2023.
He added that the reduction in the fire incidents is the outcome of 28000 fire awareness events organized by F&ES at multiple places across J&K.
ADGP F&ES further stated that over three lakh people have been trained in the fire awareness events.
Kumar said that the F&ES is planning to come up with a fire fighter at every household so that the people could douse the flame at an early stage till the fire fighters reach the spot.
He also stated that the people are still being trained and the students from Class 10th are being trained with regard to dousing off the flames.
Moreover, the ADGP F&ES further stated that anyone getting injured during the fire incident will be given first aid at the initial stage to ensure that the precious life is saved till the person reaches the hospital for advanced treatment. “The F&ES men have been given training in this regard and we are taking measures to reduce the fire incidents as well as prevent the loss of lives in such incidents,” he said.
