Ramban, Sep 12: At least four persons were killed after a truck they were travelling in was hit by a boulder slide on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in Banihal area of Ramban district on Tuesday morning.
“The truck bearing registration number (JK03J-0312) was heading towards Srinagar from Jammu when it was hit by the boulder slide at Wagan near Sherbibi. The impact of the collision caused the truck to fall into a deep gorge,” an official said.
He said all the four persons in the truck were killed on the spot, adding that the bodies were retrieved from the gorge and taken to Banihal hospital.
He identified the deceased as Mohammad Afzal Garoo, his brother Mohammad Altaf Garoo, sons of Abdul Aziz Garoo from Redwani Kulgam and Irfan Ahmed, his brother Showkat Ahmed sons of Abdul Hamid Bhat from Srigufwara Anantnag.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended in Redwani and Srigufwara villages when bodies of four people arrived there.
