Kashmir is known for its fruit production, but the farmers were always pleading for allowing their vehicles to cross the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, which multiple of times remained stranded along the route due to the unsuitable road conditions. However, all the worries of farmers have come to an end as the incumbent administration in Jammu & Kashmir led by Manoj Sinha has decided to allow the traffic to ply from either side on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the road connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of the parts of India. The Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will ply on both the sides everyday from now onwards, which is something to be cheer about as the decision ahead of the fruit season has brought smiles on the face of growers. The highway was witnessing frequent closure whenever it rains as the Srinagar-Jammu highway remained in shambles for the years together, bringing disappointment to the people always. However, the situation has changed on the ground and the people are now heaving a sigh of relief with the improvement in the road in the past few years. What needs to be done at this juncture is to ensure that the concerned agencies must be put on toes to ensure that the condition of the road remains always favourable. Therefore, the concerned agencies should take prompt action to ensure that there is no unfavourable condition of the road so that the growers would not experience any loss in the upcoming season.
