It has become too hectic and difficult to walk through the new Habba Kadal bridge as the road connectivity has turned into a safe haven for the stray dogs, due to which many people avoid walking through the bridge in the morning and evening hours as more than two dozen stray dogs could be seen roaming on the streets close to the bridge. The massive presence of stray dogs on the bridge is risking the lives of people. The people believe that the presence of dogs in the locality is the outcome of the garbage that is being dumped from different places to be shifted to the actual dumping site every morning. The foul smell emanates from the spot along the bridge while the street vendors and the shoppers too are facing difficulties to be in the market. Despite pleas by the local shopkeepers and the residents multiple times to shift the dumping spot, there has been no response from the authorities as the issue continues to put the lives of pedestrians and shoppers at risk due to the huge presence of stray dogs. One fails to understand why there has been no action over the presence of a massive number of stray dogs on the bridge and its surroundings so far. Most of the people don’t even dare to walk or commute through the bridge late evening. Therefore, the concerned authorities need to take immediate measures in this regard and ensure that the terror of stray dogs is put to an immediate end, besides the dumping site is shifted so that the people here could heave a sigh of relief.
