Baramulla, Sep 19: Ladoo Ladura – a picturesque village in Sopore’s Rafiabad is all set to host its maiden tourist festival tomorrow.
The village located in the lap of mountains surrounded by the meadows, green forests is serving as a tourist attraction for the locals as well as non-locals who are now turning up in large numbers.
An official said that the maiden festival is a mark setting event to promote eco-tourism.
“All arrangements including transport facilities to the venue, parking management, supply of drinking water, security arrangements, availability of first aid and other logistics are in place for the smooth and hassle-free conduct of the grand festival,” officials said.
Baramulla deputy commissioner on Monday held a meeting in this regard with the concerned officers to make the grand event successful. Besides, the officials were asked to promote the tourist destinations, cultural heritage and other monuments through social media platforms.
“Administration is committed to ensure all the necessary infrastructure and resources, besides opening up new economic avenues for fulfilling the aspirations of the people through the tourism industry”, the Deputy Commissioner said in a meeting.
Sharing their experience of being there at the tourist destination for 2-day trekking, Peerzada Tahir and his ally Rizwan Rouf said that it was really great, amazing to be in the meadow.
“There is a natural beauty and its ecosystem shouldn’t be disturbed by human involvement. All those visiting this place must ensure waste is not thrown into the meadows”, they said.
The residents are equally happy with the first grand event saying, ‘we must work together to protect its virgin beauty’.
The event being organized by the district administration won’t only be a promotional stunt for the tourist destination but is going to create livelihood opportunities as well. “It is a welcome step and every stakeholder should make efforts to promote eco-tourism,” said Manzar Bashir, a local affiliated with the Civil Society, who is providing a helping hand to the administration in conducting the event.
