Baramulla, Sep 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said to have arrested a day-old militant of TRF, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Toiba and his associate along with arms and ammunition in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
“The duo was on task to recruit more youth to carry out terror attacks in Baramulla,” police said.
An official said that based on a specific inputs, a joint Naka was laid at Tappar Payeen village of Pattan in Baramulla and a militant – Mohammed Yaseen Shah, who had gone missing from his home at Baramulla on 21 of September to join ranks was arrested along with arms and ammunition including one Pistol, one Pistol Magazine and eight live rounds.
During questioning, Shah disclosed the name of his associate Parvaiz Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohd resident of Takiya Wagoora, following which he was also arrested during a raid at his house, the official said, adding that two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
During Yaseen’s further interrogation and disclosure, the security forces managed to recover one Pistol, one Pistol Magazine and eight live rounds from his house at Janbazpora in Baramulla.
“The investigation is at the initial stage and more arrests and recoveries are expected,” said police.
“So far, it has come to the fore that these two militants were operating on the directions from Pakistan based handlers and were planning to recruit more militants and carry out terror activities in Baramulla and adjoining areas,” the police official added.
