The burglary incidents have seemingly increased across Jammu & Kashmir, especially in the markets where a huge rush of people is being witnessed on a regular basis. Some of the shocking incidents have come to the fore when the devotees, who throng the shrines ahead of the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), were also robbed by the thieves there. Several people were seen asking for their belongings in the past few days. Such incidents are not only usual at the shrines, but the thieves have looted many houses, shops and other places as well. In this regard, the swift action by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in different districts of the Union Territory is testimony to the fact that the thieves are on prowl across the Valley, thus the people need to take proper care of their belongings which they are carrying while travelling to any place. Besides, the people need to stop the culture of keeping houses closed as such houses have usually become the target for these burglars. It is unfortunate that the thieves have not even spared the manhole covers in the Old City area of Habba Kadal. The reports suggest that seven manhole covers have been looted in the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday, which they believe is done by the drug addicts. At this juncture, the people need to take care and ensure no room is given to the thieves to decamp with their belongings and also the society needs to keep proper vigil on the suspects and ensure that such incidents with the support of Police are reduced to zero.
