Srinagar, Oct 2: In a swift and determined response to a distressing incident, Jammu & Kashmir Police in Baramulla on Monday said to have successfully apprehended a rape accused within hours after a complaint was filed.
Police Station Kreeri received a written complaint from one girl (name withheld) age about 19 years stating therein that she was raped by her father namely Mohd Rafeeq Mochi son of Abdul Jabbar resident of Kalantra Payeen, Baramulla and is absconding from home, a police spokesman said in a statement.
Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kreeri and investigation was initiated.
“During the course of investigation, after strenuous efforts the accused person was traced and arrested within hours after the complaint was received. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Furthermore, medico-legal formalities of the victim girl have been conducted and further investigation of the case is in progress,” police said.
Meanwhile, police urged community members to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood.
