DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Padshahi Bagh

Srinagar, Oct 4: Continuing its endeavour to bring Administration at the door steps of the people for on spot resolution of their developmental issues, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday held a Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Padshahi Bagh area in South Tehsil of the District under a Public Outreach Programme, Weekly Block Diwas.
The Public Grievance Redressal Camp witnessed a large participation of people from Padshahi Bagh and other adjoining areas of Tehsil South of Srinagar District.
Besides, the Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, the programme was also attended by General Manager DIC, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Block Medical Officer, Tehsildar South, Executive Engineer PHE, Block Development Officer, Lead District Manager and other sectoral/zonal officers of the District.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, local representatives, public delegations and individuals projected various issues and demands before the Deputy Commissioner.
The demands and issues put before the DC include resolution of jurisdictional issues between SMC and RDD, augmentation of water supply, electricity utilities , street lights and drainage system in the area, upgradation of healthcare facilities and School infrastructure, development of playground, upgradation of sports infrastructure, setting up of Patwar Khana, mitigating the issues of solid waste and sanitation facility in the area, providing ATM/banking, settlement of revenue records, macadamization of Mehjoor Nagar-Gulshan Abad road, repairs & construction of protection bund along Jhelum, providing e-rickshaw services, besides other development issues were flagged-off during the Grievance Redressal Camp.
The Deputy Commissioner after giving patient hearing to the issues and demands of the public, sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp.
The DC also assured the people of and other adjoining areas that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority. The DC also gave on the spot direction to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of the public issues.
With regard to demand of construction of a School building projected by the local people, the DC passed on the spot directions to concerned Tehsildar to identify suitable patch of land for the purpose and also asked the Chief Education Officer to place indent for the same.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on ground assessment for their time bound redressal.
The DC asked youth to come forward and avail the maximum benefits of self-employment schemes like ‘Mumkin’ and “Tejiswini” launched by the Government which have been designed specially for their sustainable livelihood. He informed that the government has rolled out multiple self-employment generation schemes to handhold youth who are desirous to establish their own income generating units.
On the occasion, the DC asked the Officers of Health Department to organise a free health check-up and awareness camp in the area regarding Ayushman Bharat, ABHA and other health related schemes to sensitize the local population about their benefits.
The Lead District Manager was also asked to conduct an awareness camp at Padshahi Bagh to sensitize people, particularly youth about different self-employment schemes.
Later, the DC inspected the pace of ongoing development works in the area including desiltation and re-sectioning works of Padshahi Bagh canal.
