Dr Fayaz Shawl appreciates Paras Health, gives tips to keep your heart healthy

Srinagar, Oct 10: World-renowned Interventional Cardiologist, Dr Fayaz Shawl visited Paras Srinagar and shared his experience and views about the infrastructure and medical facilities of the Hospital. Dr Fayaz Shawl said, that he was very happy to see such a good facility in Kashmir which is his hometown.
Expressing his concern over the need of development in the healthcare sector of Kashmir, he said this hospital is a bold step towards providing the people of Kashmir with a modern and advanced healthcare facility available at their doorstep. The hospital is a tertiary care centre with at par facilities and services that are available in any centre throughout the country or outside.
Notably, Dr Fayaz Shawl had moved to US almost 50 years ago to continue his medical education after doing MBBS from GMC Srinagar. In 1977, Dr. Shawl moved to the United States and completed his cardiology fellowship at The Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. (Maj.) Shawl brought the military into the balloon age when he performed the first PTCA in the United States Military (Army, Navy, Air Force) at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1980. Between 1979 and 2003, Dr. Shawl retained clinical appointments at Georgetown University School of Medicine, George Washington University School of Medicine and the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine, while developing leadership roles in Interventional Cardiology at both Washington Adventist Hospital and George Washington University Hospital.
A defining moment in the annals of interventional cardiology occurred in 1981 when Dr Shawl performed the first-ever Coronary Angioplasty in the United States Military. This ground-breaking achievement took place at the renowned Walter Reed Army Medical Center and encompassed the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Dr. Shawl’s mastery of this innovative procedure was acquired during his training in Switzerland under the mentorship of Dr Andeas Gruentzig, the visionary pioneer behind coronary angioplasty.

Zonal Director of Paras Srinagar, Dr Jatinder Arora thanked Dr Fayaz Shawl for Choosing Paras Health Srinagar to make his expertise and treatment available for people of Kashmir. Pertinent to mention that Dr Fayaz has got numerous invitations from many healthcare setups of Kashmir to give them a try but Paras Health Srinagar is the first one he chose.

Renowned Dr HK Bali said that people should about the techniques of distressing that is one of the causes of heart attack. He said a lot of information is available on internet and people should know about that.
Those who attended the press conference were Dr Maqbool Sohil, Dr HK Bali, Dr Veenu Kaul, Dr Syed Asrar and Dr Khurshid Iqbal.
