The electricity continues to play hide and seek across Kashmir Valley despite the government claiming to have procured more electricity Megawatts from Uttar Pradesh and central governments. The consumers have been facing erratic power cuts from the last few weeks, while the concerned Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) states that there has been a steep fall in the power generation after the prolonged dry spell led to the reduction in water level in the major water bodies. It was stated that the procuring of additional electricity from different governments will put an end to the pesky power cuts, but unfortunately nothing has changed so far as the consumers are being persistently supplied the erratic electricity, leading to their hardships. Amidst the pesky power cuts, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a meeting of officers Tuesday and directed them to ensure adequate electricity is supplied to the consumers during winter season. But, to ensure adequate electricity, there is a need to address the shortage of electricity at present so that the situation improves and will not worsen during the upcoming winters when the temperature plummets to below zero. It is the time when the department concerned has to gear up and make all the arrangements so that the situation can be controlled well on time otherwise the pesky power cuts during the winters will push the consumers to the wall. The concerned department must look for options to procure the electricity and make it available for the people for the harsh winter period so that the consumers could heave a sigh of relief.
