Pulwama, Oct 14: After more than seven years, authorities are yet to make the power receiving station functional in Charipora village of Pulwama.
Locals said that a receiving station was sanctioned for the Charipora area on the Pulwama-Budgam boundary in 2016. They said if made functional, it will cater dozens of Pulwama and Budgam villages.
At present residents of many villages from Pulwama and Budgam are receiving power supply from Pulwama but due to long distance they are getting unscheduled power supply, said Zakir Ahmad a local resident.
“Even if it rains for a few minutes, our power supply remains cut off for hours together,” he said.
Locals said that around seven years have passed now since the receiving station was sanctioned but the station is yet to be made functional.
They said that it was a long pending demand of dozens of villages of Pulwama and Budgam district as it will provide power supply to dozens of villages as these areas are suffering from decades.
Work on it was started years ago and completed this year besides that it was commissioned in March 2023 and since then six months more months have passed but it has not been made functional yet.
