Jammu, Oct 26: Various political and social organizations on Thursday celebrated Accession Day of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India.
The day carries great significance as it was on this day in 1947 that the then Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession to become part of the greatest democracy of the world. Several functions are being organized to mark the day.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held the main programme in the connection at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, which was addressed by BJP senior leaders who also paid homage to Maharaja Hari Singh. J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina accompanied by party General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul and other senior leaders participated in the celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravinder Raina said that the day of 26 October is of great importance to every resident of J&K in a similar way as that of 15 August.
Whole of Jammu & Kashmir (Including illegally occupied part of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh by Pakistan and China) was made an inseparable part of Bharat. He said that the Accession was completed without any condition by Maharaja ji, but NC and Congress who conspired against the unity of nation for their own vested interests propagated false narrative of theirs. He added that Maharaja Hari Singh ji was a hard core patriot who stressed for freedom internationally, which irked the British and hence all the conspiracies were hatched.
Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party celebrated Accession Day by paying floral tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh who took the decision to accede J&K to the Union of India.
Vilakshan Singh, President of J&K National Panthers Party while speaking on the occasion said that it was because of Maharaja Hari Singh that J&K became part of India.
Vilakshan Singh said that a large portion of the erstwhile state of J&K is under illegal foreign occupation. He demanded that the central government should take steps for the liberation of Pakistan occupied and China occupied parts of J&K. He said that liberation of the illegally occupied parts of J&K would be the real tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh.
Bahu Fort development Committee under the leadership of its president Rajeev Charak celebrated accession day by lighting up 76 lamps at Maharaja Hari Singh’s statue in Bahu Fort Jammu.
On the occasion, Charak said that Jammu and Kashmir was mishandled by Pt Nehru’s government which resulted large scale destruction in Jammu and Kashmir.
SAMADHAAN Foundation a cultural, charitable & educational Organization organized” ‘Adhimilanotsav’ under the theem “Duggar Goonj” at Purmandal, also known as “Choti Kash” of Duggar Pradesh.
Main speaker on the occasion was Parshotam Dadhichi President Sanatan Dharm Sabha threw light upon the importance of this day and appreciated the initiative of Samadhaan Foundation to organise such a grand programme at Purmandal i .e Choti Kashi of Dugger Pradesh.
On this occasion 1008 earthen lamps were also lightened on the bank of holy river Devika & everyone prayed for the peace and prosperity of Duggar Pradesh. Pawan Sharma gave a clarion call to all Dogras that now is the time to reclaim the legacy of Maharaja. On this day the Maharaja signed the Instrument of Accession. He signed it for the whole of the J&K state from Lakhanpur to Gilgit Baltistan, Hunga, Haveli, Mirpur, Kotli, Aksai Chin etc. parts of which are still under illegal occupation of Pakistan & China.
Accession Day is a public holiday in the Union Territory since for the first time in 2020 after the abrogation of articles 370 and 35A on 5th August 2019.
The Instrument of Accession is a legal document executed by Maharaja Hari Singh, ruler of the princely state of Jammu & Kashmir, on 26th October 1947.
By executing this document under the provisions of the Indian Independence Act, of 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh agreed to accede to the Dominion of India.
Worth to mention, Maharaja Hari Singh, sought the help of the Indian Armed Forces after an invasion from the Army men and tribesmen of Pakistan.
The Indian Government extended its help on condition of accession of the state to the Dominion of India.
