DC for adopting coordinated approach to make Baramulla drugs free

Baramulla, Nov 1: The 11th meeting of the District Level Committee of Narcotics Coordination (NCORD) was Wednesday chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar at Dak Bungalow, here.
The purpose of the meeting was to appraise the action taken by the concerned departments regarding control measures and to discuss a comprehensive strategy to counter the menace of drug abuse in the district.
The district’s drug control initiatives were assessed during the meeting by the corresponding departments. It also covered in detail the prevalence of drug addiction, problem areas, age range of addicts, drug abuse hotspots, and the state of drug treatment facilities in the Baramulla district.
During the meeting, the DC sought the details of all the progress made regarding the directions passed to all the concerned departments during the 10th NCORD meeting for eradication of drug abuse in the district.
She further said that collective efforts are needed to curb the drug menace and all stakeholders shall have to work in tandem to enhance the rehabilitation of persons involved in drug abuse.
Furthermore, the DC stressed the importance of holding large-scale awareness campaigns in schools and universities to educate the youth about the dangers and negative consequences of drug use.
Meanwhile, a detailed presentation was presented to apprise the chair with regard to the action taken reports and further strategies to be taken by all the concerned departments for which DC called to adopt coordinated approach to realize the mission of Drug Free Baramulla.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; SDMs and other functionaries of concerned departments were present in the meeting.
