Srinagar, Nov 2: The Government of India has asked J&K government to submit Action Taken Reports (ATRs) of the inspections carried out by the National Quality Monitors (NQMs) under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Official documents lay bare that the central government raised the issue during the meeting of empowered committee held on September 5, 2023 to consider the proposals submitted by the UT administration for approval under the PMGSY.
According to minutes of the meeting, 34 ATRs of National Quality Monitors (NQMs) are pending with the UT.
“34 ATRs of NQM inspections are pending from the UT. The UT was requested to send ATRs to the National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA),” reads the record note.
Under the PMGSY, independent National Quality Monitors (NQMs) are engaged by the NRIDA for random inspection of roads and bridge works to monitor quality and also to provide guidance to the field functionaries.
The record note further reveals that officials of J&K government were asked to send the reply on the complaints pending since 2021.
“The UT agreed to send the inputs after consultation with NRIDA,” the document states.
The officials of J&K were also directed to dispose of pending complaints at the earliest.
“12 complaints are pending at UT level for disposal. UT was requested to dispose of the complaints at the earliest,” reads minutes of the meeting.
