Srinagar, Nov 9: On the occasion of International Urdu Day, a prestigious event was organized by Anjuman Urdu Sahafat Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar on Thursday.
Working journalists, writers, poets and other personalities participated in this function. Manohar Lal Gami, senior member of the Executive Committee of the Anjuman Urdu Sahafat, while presenting the welcome speech, explained the aims and objectives of the establishment and mission of Association.
While speaking on the theme of the event, “Challenges faced by Urdu Journalism”, the speakers said that journalists associated with Urdu journalism must prepare themselves to perform their professional responsibilities in accordance with modern requirements.
They said that the requirements of journalism around the world are changing at a fast pace, in such a way, working journalists, especially working journalists associated with Urdu journalism, should adapt themselves to the capacity building and find solutions to deal with the challenges of the future. Senior journalists Yousuf Jameel, Riyaz Masroor, Prof. Nasir Mirza, Dr. Rashid Maqbool and educationist Qura-ul-Ain shed light on various aspects of Urdu journalism and the challenges faced.
In recognition of services, and promoting Urdu journalism and Media academics senior journalist Syed Vaje Andrabi, Dr. Rashid Maqbool, Tahir Mohideen, Late Mohammad Yusuf Qadri, late Shamim Ahmed Shamim where awarded “Khalat Urdu Journalism 2023”,
Among the dignitaries who participated, former head of EMRC Kashmir University Prof. Nasir Mirza, senior journalist Riyaz Masroor, Assistant professor EMRC ,Kashmir University Dr. Rashid Maqbool and President Anjuman Urdu Sahafat Riyaz Malik and Petron Unjuman Hamid Hameed.
Ryiaz Malik thanked the guests and participants and said that the Anjuman will continue to remember its predecessors.
