Srinagar, Dec 15: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Friday called out J&K administration for its failure to address the worst electricity crisis, saying the unscheduled power cuts have reached an alarming level leading to significant losses in multiple sectors, impacting businesses, education, healthcare, and overall quality of life.
This Sagar said in a press statement released from the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. He said, “The long duration outages and unscheduled power cuts are causing immense frustration among citizens who have borne significant financial burden in terms of increased tariff without reaping the intended advantages. The lack of consistent electricity supply has led to significant losses in multiple sectors, impacting businesses, education, healthcare, and overall quality of life.”
“Consumers were promised an improvement in the power following the setting up of a high powered committee for the power purchase but the situation on ground had gone from bad to worse pushing them towards harm’s way,” he said adding, “Responsibility needs to be fixed. Why did the government let the alarm about dip in water discharge in dams go unheard and didn’t prepare a proposal to purchase from the Northern Grid? Government is fully responsible for the genesis of the crisis, it didn’t happen overnight. There was a prolonged dry spell for all of us to observe which this administration has failed to acknowledge.”
