Srinagar, Dec 21: Apni Party’s Senior Vice President and former cabinet minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir, stated on Thursday that if Apni Party is given the mandate to serve the people, it will negotiate with the centre to ensure that all the constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are restored, both in letter and spirit.
He was addressing the party’s public rally in Kralpora area of Tangmarg.
On this occasion, party General Secretary, Rafi Ahmad Mir, addressing the rally, vowed that if Apni Party is given a chance to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir, it will ensure that the central government’s assurance for the exclusive rights of J&K people over jobs and land is supported by constitutional guarantees from the centre.
According to a press release issued here, a large number of people, both men and women, thronged the rally venue organized by the party cadre today.
While addressing the gathering, Ghulam Hassan Mir said, “Apni Party aims to develop Jammu and Kashmir to the extent that no one grapples with poverty here anymore. We have the vision and the will to change the scenario of Jammu and Kashmir for the better. Our primary objective is to ensure permanent peace, enduring prosperity, and equitable development in Jammu and Kashmir so that people can prosper.”
He added, “It pains us to see that people in Jammu and Kashmir are facing a lot of miseries and lacks in terms of infrastructural deficit. We want to develop this place using its God-given potential and the talent of our youth. Also, we intend to negotiate with the centre to ensure people get all the rights that the constitution of the country guarantees them.”
Ghulam Hassan Mir also promised that the Apni Party, when elected to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir, will take a series of initiatives to ensure every household gets economic dividends.
He said, “Apni Party is committed to providing 500 units of free electricity to every household during summers and 300 units in winters in the Valley. Similarly, people in Jammu will be given 500 units of free electricity during winter and 300 units in summer. Furthermore, Apni Party would enhance widow/old age pension up to Rs 5000 and provide four cooking gas cylinders per year under the Ujjwala scheme to every household in Jammu and Kashmir. Also, we are committed to giving Rs 1 lakh marriage assistance to girls from poor families.”
Speaking on the occasion, party General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir said that Apni Party will ensure constitutional guarantees for the exclusive rights of J&K people over land and jobs here.
He said, “Post August 2019, Apni Party leadership convinced the centre to announce that people of Jammu and Kashmir will have exclusive rights over land and jobs here. However, when we get public mandate, we will ensure the centre gives us constitutional guarantees on this issue.”
Speaking about the Apni Party, Rafi Ahmad Mir said, “This party was established in March 2020, at a time when the entire Jammu and Kashmir was in deep chaos, and people were apprehensive that the demography of Jammu and Kashmir could be changed, eventually leading to a loss of identity of the people. At that time, we decided to come forward to shoulder our responsibility to speak on behalf of the distressed people.”
“At that time, establishing a new political party was not an easy task. But we deliberated on the situation and found that we need a political party here that could talk to the centre to protect the rights of the people,” he added.
Besides Ghulam Hassan Mir Rafi Ahmad Mir, the prominent party leaders who were present on the occasion included DDC Advocate Ishfaq Ahmad, party’s Zonal President Abdul Majid Khanday, Block President Wahigund Mohammad Akbar, Block President Khaipora Abdul Hamid, Vice President (District) Mohammad Asadullah Bhat, and others. The event was organised by the party leader Fayaz Ahmad Parray.
