Handwara, Jan 5: The residents of the Naribal Qaziabad area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to provide them with regular drinking water supply in their locality for the last couple of weeks.
Locals alleged that despite repeated pleas to restore the water supply, authorities have failed to take any measures in this regard.
“We are being deprived of potable water. Our womenfolk fetch water from far-off places in this bone-chilling winter. Nobody cares about our plight,” the villagers said.
When contacted, the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PHE Handwara, said that some technical snags hinder the water supply in the area and the department is working on it to restore the water supply as soon as possible. [KNT]
