Srinagar, Feb 6: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said to have booked two most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
The most wanted and notorious drug smugglers namely Shahid Manzoor Dar son of Manzoor Ahmad Dar resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla & Shabir Ahmad Wani @ Hubba son of Jalal-ud-Din resident of Singhpora have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu, a police spokesman said in a statement.
Pertinently, many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Pattan & other areas of District. Despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth, police said.
Meanwhile, general public appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. “Baramulla Police consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse,” police said.
