Lok Sabha polls: One day workshop held for political parties at Jammu

Jammu, Feb 27: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, one day workshop for political parties was organized today at Nirvachan Bhawan here.
The program was attended by around 40 representatives of major political parties of Jammu and Kashmir including members of national and state level political parties like BJP, Panthers Party and Apni Party among others.
The training covered all important aspects of the election process like nomination, qualification and disqualification of candidature, EVM preparedness, Election Expenditure Monitoring, Model Code of Conduct besides media certification and monitoring committees. The representatives were also apprised of poll day related Standard Operating Procedures to be observed by polling parties as well as the contesting candidates.
Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, inaugurated the session and stressed upon the central role of political parties in a vibrant democracy like India.
National Level Master trainers, Chand Kishore Sharma and Riaz Ahmed Butt, imparted training on several topics including EVM preparedness, issues pertaining to Model Code of Conduct, Election Expenditure monitoring , MCMC and Social Media.
The Chief Electoral Officer, in his closing address, apprised the representatives of various election related aspects highlighting the need for a closer liaison between political parties and administrative machinery in ensuring a free, fair and civil discourse both during and after election processes. He also emphasized upon the importance of maintaining good practices and transparency to ensure peaceful and fair elections in the UT.
