Govt strongly working towards youth-led development: PM

Srinagar, Feb 29: The government Thursday said that the schools in Kashmir division shall commence class work from March-04 instead of March-01 in view of inclement weather.
Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Tassaduq Hussain Mir in an order said that the extension in winter vacation was announced in view of the weather advisory issued by the Meteorological Department predicting heavy snowfall in the valley.
“Classwork in all government and recognised private schools of the Kashmir Division up to the higher secondary level shall commence from 4th March 2024,” it reads.
Earlier on February-21, teaching staff of educational institutes in Kashmir valley were reopened for teaching staff of School Education Department following the more than two months long winter vacations.
Pertinently, the government in December-2023 had ordered closure of schools in a phased manner in Kashmir division from November-28-2023 to February-29-2024.
For primary level classes’ upto 8th standard, the vacations were announced from November-28 to February-29-2024 and from 9th standard onwards upto 12th standard, the vacations were announced from December-11 to February-29-2024 respectively.
DSEK however has ordered that the teaching staff report back to their respective schools on February-21-2024, so that they remain available for making arrangements regarding preparation of ensuing examinations. (KNO)
