DEO Budgam sensitises political parties regarding MCC guidelines

Budgam, Mar 20: The District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Akshay Labroo Wednesday chaired a meeting with representatives of the recognised political parties.
At the outset, the representatives of political parties were sensitized regarding the strict adherence to Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during the upcoming Lok- Sabha 2024 elections in the district.
The DEO emphasized that all guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI), shall be implemented and followed in letter and spirit in the district.
He urged political parties to ensure that ECI’s guidelines on Model Code of Conduct for Political Parties are complied with.
He also urged political parties to give their cooperation to the district administration for conduct of free, fair and smooth elections in the district.
The DEO said that the district administration is committed to implementing the ECI’s guidelines in letter and spirit and to ensure strict implementation of MCC.
He also informed that a dedicated Media Centre and the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee facility has also been established at District Information Centre Budgam.
Meanwhile, Additional District Development Commissioner Budgam, Nodal Officer, MCC also briefed the political parties regarding the MCC and urged them to follow all guidelines in letter and spirit.
Later, the DEO also chaired meeting of Bank Heads and instructed them to facilitate candidates smooth opening of bank accounts and issuance of cheque books as per the ECI guidelines
The bank heads were also sensitized about the guidelines of ECI on reporting of suspicious bank transactions and reporting same to the concerned agencies.
