Moving beyond promise

Spending hours in the queue to get the ration from the designated ration depots in Jammu & Kashmir will soon become a history as the government is mulling to introduce e-ration cards by 2027 to ensure seamless service delivery and reduce the potential for fraud. The initiative is part of the government’s motive of ensuring transparency in governance. The introduction of e-ration cards will ensure equal distribution of the ration and is certainly going to put an end to the uneven distribution of the ration as being complained by the consumers. The e-ration cards are among the series of tech-driven initiatives to enhance efficiency, transparency, and consumer satisfaction as part of five year approach plan of Viksit Jammu & Kashmir 2047. In this regard, the government has started a process of digitization and other related issues. By taking such initiative, the ration to the public will be available just a click away and ease the hardships of the consumers, who had to spend a lot of time at the ration depots to get ration. Such tech-driven initiatives are the need of the hour amidst the busiest schedule of people. It wouldn’t only lessen the burden of the consumers, but would ensure transparency in distribution of ration to the public. The government should take immediate measures in this regard and complete all the procedures on time so that the initiative is introduced as per the set deadline for the wellbeing of the consumers.
