The streets and roads are abuzz with the shoppers in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Srinagar, the summer capital of the Union Territory ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. But the situation in some of the parts of the City areas have worsened as the street vendors here have occupied the majority of the roads, causing huge inconvenience to the people. In Habba Kadal, the situation on the main road has turned grim for the commuters and the pedestrians as the street vendors have not only occupied the roads by the carts, but also parking their vehicles on the roadsides. It has become difficult for the people to walk through the route and buy essentials ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Such a situation is worrisome and could hamper smooth shopping in the markets. Some of the areas in Old City are also witnessing the similar situation and thus simultaneously pushing the commuters and shoppers to the wall. The situation is expected to worsen in the coming days in case the street vendors, who are illegally occupying the roadsides, are not dealt with as per the law. Therefore, the concerned officials need to gear up in this regard and ensure that all the illegal occupiers are removed from the roadsides for the wellbeing of the shoppers and also help them to buy essentials, food stuff, clothes and other things without any hesitation. The teams must be deputed in the Old City areas to act swiftly whenever needed so that the rush of shoppers is not hampered.
