Srinagar, Apr 15: Police in Shopian have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Wachi at a checkpoint established at Safanagri, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 20.548 Kgs of charas concealed in two nylon bags was recovered from his procession. He has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar son of Gh Mohd Dar resident of Darbagh.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 29/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
