The incessant rainfall amidst the incomplete ongoing works in Srinagar City has landed the people in trouble as many roads, streets including those leading towards the hospitals remained inundated for the whole day, which simultaneously leads to the traffic mess at several places throughout the day. The commuters had to face tremendous hardships as the inundated roads blocked the traffic at multiple places, raising questions and concerns over the delay in completion of the projects going on under the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL). The inundation was witnessed at multiple places where the roads have developed potholes, but unfortunately there has been no end to the potholed and shambles condition of roads in Srinagar, despite the locals raising their concerns and demands from time to time in this regard. It has also been reported that due to the potholed roads and subsequently its inundation due to the incessant rains has led to the frequent accidents as well, which has left nearly three persons including a woman wounded. In case such a delay continues in completion of the projects, the people across Srinagar and mostly those commuting through these roads will have to face the inconvenience in the future as well. Keeping in view today’s situation, the government needs to pace up its work and ensure that the project is completed in the double shift, especially on the roads, which lead towards the Valley’s premier health facilities like SMHS and others, so that the patients and attendants will not have to suffer in the times to come.
