Srinagar, Apr 17: Ram Navami was celebrated with religious fervor across the valley on Wednesday while Kashmiri Pandits performed ‘pooja’ at the historic Shankaracharya Temple, located on Shankaracharya Hill in Srinagar.
On the occasion, the Kashmiri Pandits took out a procession during the festival celebrations at historic Ghanta Ghar where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Bilal Mohi-ud-Din along with Senior Superintendant of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Ashish Mishra also participated.
The Shankaracharya Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, witnessed a large gathering of devotees who offered prayers and participated in various rituals to commemorate the birth of Lord Rama.
The atmosphere at Shankaracharya Temple today was uplifting, with local residents and devotees expressing their joy, saying that Ram Navami holds special significance for them.
“It’s a day when we come together to celebrate our shared heritage and faith,” they added.
A local resident, Meena Devi, shared her sentiments saying, it’s heartening to see people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate Ram Navami.
The spirit of unity and brotherhood is what makes Kashmir truly special, she said.
“The celebrations at the Shankaracharya Temple serve as a reminder of the rich cultural tapestry and religious harmony that exists in Kashmir,” she said.
