Srinagar, May 2: Secretary Civil Aviation, Aijaz Asad, Thursday reviewed upgradation of the existing infrastructure, besides taking stock of other ongoing development works at Srinagar Airport.
The Secretary, while addressing a meeting of officers held in this regard, was given a detailed presentation highlighting various facilities and Srinagar airport expansion plans, besides apprising of certain land hindrances at the proposed site. He had detailed deliberation on various passenger facilities in departure and security hold areas, upgradation of Instrument Landing system, CAT-II installation, preparedness for Haj flight operations, acquisition of land for expansion plans among other vital issues.
The Secretary issued directions to the concerned agencies regarding several issues including CAT -II installation, transfer of land adjacent to the drop gate, handing over of patch of land as well as other important matters related to smooth execution of the project.
He also took notice of the passenger facilities at the airport while asking for evolving a systematic approach to ensure a seamless and efficient travel experience for all the passengers. He said that airlines have to be prompt in grievance redressal for the ease of passengers. He also enquired about the arrangements being put in place for departure of Haj pilgrims to holy pilgrimage of Mecca and Madina. He emphasised on concerned officers to ensure all arrangements are put in place for the convenience of pilgrims. He also stressed on close synergy and coordination among departments to ensure smooth and hassle-free arrangements.
In this regard, the concerned Airline representatives briefed the Secretary about the flight arrangements in place for the pilgrims embarking on holy journey to Mecca.
The departure of flights shall commence from May 9 while the last flight of pilgrims shall leave on May 25, he added.
