Need to combat substance abuse, drug trafficking

The flow of vehicles has been increasing with each passing day while some of the areas have been persistently witnessing the traffic mess on a regular basis. Dalgate area of Srinagar is one among such spots where massive traffic congestion is being witnessed as the work on the construction of the bridge has not been completed for years now, thereby pushing the commuters to the wall. The bridge, which is just a few meters long, has taken years to be completed as the authorities have not taken keen interest in ensuring that the bridge is constructed on time. It is unfortunate that the people living in the adjacent areas of the locality have to face tremendous hardships on a regular basis, which has simultaneously affected their business as well. But, nobody is seemingly taking action in this regard and taking measures to ensure that the bridge is completed at earliest. Given the flow of rush, especially the tourists in the locality, the bridge should have been constructed within the stipulated time, but the people are unnecessarily being forced to face hardships and take another route, which consumes their huge time to reach their destinations. Such hardships of the people should be put to an immediate end and the authorities concerned should get the issue resolved and ensure that Dalgate bridge is completed in the shortest possible time so that the commuters, especially the tourists could heave a sigh of relief.
