In a first, Wakura block honoured with task of facilitating FAP

Srinagar, May 21: In a first of its kind, the Wakura block in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has been honoured with the task of facilitating the Family Adoption Programme (FAP) under the competency based medical education as per the guidelines issued by National Medical Commission.
In this connection all the necessary cooperation and arrangements were provided by the team of my dedicated workers who ensured the successful implementation of this programme at the grassroot level despite being overburdened by the extra amount of work and effort they had to put considering the severe shortage of staff in the block, a statement issued here reads.
Almost 650 families were allotted to 125 medical students of SKIMS Medical College. The activity is the first of its kind where seven faculty members of SKIMS Medical college and Department of Community Medicine including Professor Rouf Sahib and Additional Professor Javed accompanied the students.
All the faculty members highly appreciated the efforts of my Block in this regard. This activity will continue for 5 years in the adopted families of my block and it will go a long way in providing the logical and scientific approach in the prevention, diagnosis and management of disease at the peripheral level while adopting the approach of tertiary level.
“In my understanding it should add another feather to the department of health at the peripheral level which has undergone a transformational change in the last few years,” said, Dr Jawaid Zargar, BMO Wakura.
