In the times when Kashmir has been witnessing the intense heat wave, the people need to take adequate and ample measures to ensure that the heat wave doesn’t affect their health conditions. Srinagar has witnessed the hottest May day on Thursday after 11 years at 32.2 degree Celsius as a similar temperature was recorded in May 2013 while all the other stations amidst the intense heat wave have recorded the hottest day of the season. At this juncture, the people need to stay hydrated to stay fit and healthy. People need to increase their water intake even if they do not feel thirsty. They must try to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible and keep themselves hydrated, especially those working outdoors, such as agricultural workers and labourers. Eating fruits and vegetables and drinking electrolyte-rich fluids like coconut water and fruit juice is imperative during these days so that the intense heat wave doesn’t affect them. Excessive heat can lead to sweating, dehydration, heatstroke, and other health problems like drowsiness, irritability, muscle cramps, a drop in blood pressure, headaches, fatigue, confusion, dry and pale skin and palpitations. The hot weather can exacerbate conditions for those with heart disease and high blood pressure. Therefore, in order to stay hydrated and healthy, there is a need to understand that measures like taking adequate fluid and other related things are imperative. The people, especially the parents, should take care of their children so that the health condition of their beloved remains good.
