Jammu, Jun 4: Kashmiri Pandit migrant voters kept their promise with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and voted in favour of candidates on all the three seats of Kashmir valley which were being supported by the saffron party.
Be it Baramulla, Srinagar or Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituencies, KP migrant voters mostly voted for BJP backed candidates.
According to the data available, KP migrant voters of Jammu voted in favour of Peoples Conference’s candidate Sajad Lone on Baramulla seat and J&K Apni Party’s candidates for Srinagar and Anantnag-Rajouri seats, Muhammad Ashraf Mir and Zafar Iqbal Manhas.
On Srinagar seat, which sent for polls on May 13, J&K Apni Party candidate Muhammad Ashraf got 4719 votes out of the total votes polled by KP migrant voters in Jammu whereas others only got 1619 votes. Similarly on Baramulla seat which went for polls on May 20, PC’s Sajad Lone got 4859 votes out of 6229 total votes polled by KP migrant voters whereas others only got 1370 votes.
On Anantnag-Rajouri seat, which went for polls on May 25, J&K Apni Party’s candidate Zafar Iqbal Manhas got 6631 votes out of the 9924 total votes polled by KP migrant voters whereas others only got 3293 votes.
During the campaigning, KP migrant voters had said that no candidate from either National Conference or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had visited them to listen to their problems and seek votes. Whereas they had said that Apni Party president Muhammad Altaf Mukhari on regular intervals visited Jammu and met several delegations of KP community and even addressed long pending issues related to their land and houses at their native places in Kashmir valley.
Some of them were of the opinion that both NC and PDP have been tested in the past but it yielded no result. They had said that BJP has been doing good work for the welfare of the community and they have voted for the parties which were being supported by the saffron party.
The counting day proved it and in all the three constituencies KP voters kept their promise with the ruling BJP and voted on their direction.
