Need to preserve surroundings

The present change and shift in the weather conditions is the outcome of the climate change prevailing due to the human interference with the natural resources. Deforestation is considered as one among the major reasons for climate change, but the people seem least bothered about the disastrous change in the weather situation. There has been drastic reduction in the forest area in the last some decades, but one has to ponder that cutting down the trees is not going to help the people in any way; rather it would create a disastrous situation for the humans in general. Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the Forest department might have been working hard to act against the people involved in cutting down the trees and also against those involved in being found carrying the illicit timber by seizing the vehicle and also arresting the accused as well. However, on the contrary, the government as well as the civil society groups have been seen carrying out the plantation drive at different places, but it won’t put an end to the chaotic situation being witnessed on the ground at present as there is a need to put an end to cutting down the trees, which is the only way out to balance the environmental situation. The time has come when the civil society groups and the government including the common masses will have to work in tandem to ensure that the possible disastrous situation is prevented at this juncture by saving the forests.
