While the preparations are in full swing to ensure smooth conduct of annual Amarnath Yatra, the government in general and the society in particular have a great responsibility to ensure that the pilgrims visiting here would not face any kind of hardships. The first and foremost issue that needs to be resolved is to ensure that the pilgrims are not overcharged as the complaints have been received in the past that the people visiting in Srinagar and elsewhere are being forced to pay an extra amount for the multiple facilities. Although the issue has been taken into the consideration by the government recently, what needs to be done is to ensure that the ponywalas and others would not push the pilgrims to the wall by providing the facilities at the exorbitant rates. The pilgrimage is all set to commence by the end of this month while the back to back meetings have taken place so far to make elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims, who are going to pay obeisance at the holy cave this year. Similarly, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law & Order J&K, Vijay Kumar chaired a joint meeting with the officers of Police, Army, CAPFs and other agencies at Police Control Room Kashmir. Besides, the government also needs to make elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims so that the pilgrimage would be remarkable and be remembered by the people visiting here for the annual Yatra this year.
