Jammu and Kashmir Police has played a key role and has respected the sentiments of the people after it registered a case and arrested two of the accused involved in drinking alcohol during a Shikara Ride on Dal Lake. The action was taken after a video went viral on social media platforms in which some people who are on a trip to Kashmir were seen with the alcohol bottles in Shikara. The local community members, especially the religious organizations here have raised the concerns and voice over the issue. However, the local police here swung to action immediately and arrested the two accused involved in the act, giving a message loud and clear that hurting the sentiments of the people will not be tolerated. By taking immediate measures, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have proven that it is the best force in the whole country. Kashmir, a land of sufi saints has always voiced concern over such issues and has not adopted the modern culture. However, like this issue, the people as well as the police need to join hands to end the grave issue from the society, which is the rising drug abuse. Both the Police and local masses should block all the channels and ways for the drug dealers so that the rising menace is curbed to a large extent and the society is freed from the hazard on the ground. The dream and goal of drug-free Jammu & Kashmir cannot be achieved without supporting each other and the incident that took place in Dal Lake is an eye opener for the society.
