Srinagar, Jun 21: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Regional Office, Jammu, on Friday organized multiple events across Jammu and Kashmir to commemorate the tenth International Day of Yoga (IDY).
These programs aimed to raise awareness about the importance of yoga and encourage its practice for physical and mental well-being.
In the Kashmir region, CBC’s Field Office Anantnag held an event at Kehribal in the Mattan area of Anantnag district, where participants practiced yoga despite a heavy downpour.
Similar events took place in the Jammu region, where Field Offices in Udhampur, Kathua, Doda, and Poonch organized events at Chassana in Reasi, Gharana in R.S. Pora, Bhagwah in Doda, and Mandi in Poonch district, respectively.
The highlight of these events was the early morning yoga sessions held at each location, which saw participation from students, teachers, community members, and officials from CBC and local administration. Expert lectures on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), emphasizing the vision behind this year’s theme – “Yoga for Self and Society,” were also conducted. Experts and instructors from the Department of AYUSH highlighted yoga as a simple remedy for physical well-being and mental peace.
At Gharana in the frontier town R.S. Pora and Mandi in Poonch district, CBC also organized medical camps in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH alongside the yoga events. A significant number of locals, particularly women, children, adolescent girls, and the elderly, attended the health camps for check-ups.
CBC’s empanelled cultural troupes presented theme-based cultural programs highlighting the health benefits of yoga. Additionally, open quizzes and drawing competitions were organized for students to promote yoga awareness. Winners received prizes and merit certificates at the conclusion of each event.
