Asks officers to prioritise speedy redressal of public issues

Udhampur, Jun 28: As part of UT administration’s extensive public outreach programme, Secretary Information Department, Rehana Batul, Friday convened a public outreach programme cum grievances redressal camp at Kaghote, Ramnagar.
The mega event was attended by members of District Development Councils, former members of Block Development Councils, other PRI members besides locals from Kaghote and adjoining areas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, IAS Probationer, Swati Sheemar besides senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, various government departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Social Welfare, Handicrafts and Dogra Haat have set up their awareness stalls.
The Secretary inspected these stalls established to disseminate information about welfare and development schemes launched by the Central and UT government. She interacted with the officers and reviewed the progress on their respective schemes on ground.
During her interaction with the general public and former PRI members, several issues and demands were raised for redressal. These issues inter alia included upgradation of Kaghote High School to Higher Secondary, missing revenue records, filling up of vacant teacher posts, functioning of water tank under JJM, scarcity of drinking water, sports stadium at Kaghote, road connectivity for far-off areas and repair and black-topping of roads,
Besides, issues related to water, electricity and staff shortage in various institutions, establishment of industries in the industrial area, construction of KV school buildings, upgrading health and education facilities were also highlighted.
The Secretary directed the officers to resolve the public’s genuine demands on priority and submit a detailed report of pending issues for higher authorities’ consideration. She emphasized that the main objective of the public darbar was to address day-to-day public issues and ensure effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes on ground.
During the programme, the Secretary sought feedback from the officers about department-wise flagship schemes and programmes. She reiterated the importance of providing better services and creating awareness about different departmental activities.
She assured redressal of genuine grievances within the shortest possible time, emphasizing that the government’s top priority is to ensure efficient and timely delivery of basic facilities to the general public.
Later, the Secretary handed over Maize sheller, power tiller, Brush cutter, key of tractor to beneficiary farmers.
