Two-day national level ENT Conclave begins at GMC Srinagar

Srinagar, Jul 4: Two-day national level ENT conclave on Thursday at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar in which delegates and experts from all over India are participating.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two ENT Head and Neck Surgery conferences are currently taking place as a two-day event, drawing participation from delegates nationwide including leading figures in the ENT field.
This significant gathering aims to foster collaboration and share the latest advancements in otolaryngology; he said, adding that the conference features various sessions, keynote speeches, and workshops focused on innovations and best practices in head and neck surgery.
Dr Manzoor Ahmad Latoo, Head of Department ENT at GMC Srinagar said that this conference is regarding ENT problems and many other issues.
He said that delegates and experts from all over India are participating in the conference and the best brains of India are participating, adding that they will talk regarding tumours in the head and neck besides that cochlear implants procedures are conducted at GMC Srinagar and many have already benefited and many more are in the pipeline and pioneers of such procedures will talk about it in the conference.
He said that transsphenoidal surgery that is reaching the tumour through the nasal passages and the sphenoid sinus is being started here so that a patient friendly and healthy trend may be set here. He said that his department wants to touch new heights so that patients don’t need to go outside for any treatment.
Dr Harris Manzoor Qadri, Assistant professor ENT GMC Srinagar said that the aim behind this event is big academic, enthusiastic scientific research has to be presented and we give a new way to the patients.
He said that such surgeries are being demonstrated that were performed very rarely but they will be done now regularly.
He said that such surgeries are being started by which patients recover within no time with less pain and less comorbidity, adding that tomorrow there will be lectures and elaborations about sleep apnea along with live surgeries.
During his speech secretary Health and Medical Education Dr Syed Abid Rasheed emphasized to focus on improved patient care and evidence based practices along with focus on professional development.
He said that he is happy that a Whipple procedure was conducted recently for the first time in GMC Anantnag.
