Pulwama, Jul 16: A picturesque dam known as Panner dam in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district is awaiting attention of authorities. The dam surrounded by lush green forests is emerging as a popular tourist destination.
Besides, the dam is a source of irrigation for paddy fields of Panner Jageer, Mandoora and its adjacent areas.
But locals said that it lacks basic facilities as it has been neglected by the government.
“A road was developed recently, which is now waiting for government attention to make further development,” a local said.
He said that Panner dam lacks cleanliness. Also there is no parking facility for vehicles prompting people to park their vehicles haphazardly.
He added that no residential quarters besides other facilities are available due to which tourists are suffering. Locals said that they have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times to no avail.
According to people, if this area is brought on a tourism map, it will help in generation of employment opportunities for locals and the government can generate revenue as well.
They said that this can help locals to get out of poverty as tourism flow can help in generation of employment opportunities for locals where most people are economically weak.
Locals requested concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate steps in this regard.
