Apni Party will not form alliance with anyone in Assembly polls: Altaf Bukhari

Srinagar, Jul 27: After an unexpected defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Chief Altaf Bukhari said on Saturday that his party is addressing gaps through door-to-door campaigns and is preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections.
“We are holding door-to-door campaigns, which are proving fruitful in building a stronger party. The unexpected defeat in the Lok Sabha elections has compelled us to address the gaps between the party and the people, and we are successfully doing so,” Bukhari said in an interview with a news agency.
Regarding the Assembly elections, he stated that the party will not form alliances with anyone, nor will it seek support from others or provide support to any party in the upcoming elections.
On Jamaat-i-Islami, he stated that religious parties should be allowed to carry out their activities, and he respects them, including Mirwaiz Kashmir. He added that if they choose to contest elections in Jammu and Kashmir, it is acceptable, as everyone has the right to participate in a democratic process.
Bukhari further stated that he will contest elections from both Uri and Chanpora in Srinagar. “I have strong support in both areas, so I will contest from these two constituencies,” he said.
Like others, Bukhari said his party is preparing for the elections in Jammu and Kashmir and is focusing on door-to-door campaigns rather than large rallies. “Door-to-door campaigns are more effective than massive gatherings, as seen in the Lok Sabha elections,” he added. (KNS)
