Prerna Puri reviews progress on ongoing 2nd SSR in Ramban

Ramban, Jul 27: Commissioner Secretary, Information and Technology, Prerna Puri, who is also Electoral Roll Observer for Ramban district, today reviewed the progress on ongoing 2nd Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2024, with respect to 1st July 2024 as the qualifying date.
District Election Office Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, briefed the Electoral Roll Observer about the latest achievement during 2nd SSR in the district through a Power Point Presentation. It was informed that 17 new polling stations have been created in the district as per the ECI norms making a total of 365 polling stations across the district for 2,19,711 eligible voters.
The district has two Assembly Constituencies, 54- Ramban and 55- Banihal. It was further given out that Gender Ratio of Electors in the district is 925 and Age Cohort is 100%.
The Electoral Roll Observer was apprised that till date 766 new voters have been added in the district during ongoing SSR, till today. Further, the district has disposed off 1581 claims and objections pertaining to addition, deletion and transposition.
During the review meeting, Prerna Puri applauded the efforts of the district administration for maintaining the highest standards in ensuring accurate, inclusive and error free Photo Electoral Roll, which is prerequisite of a healthy democracy. She assessed the progress made, so far, and emphasized the need for meticulous and timely completion of the revision process. She stressed the importance of maintaining accuracy and inclusivity in the electoral roll.
Prerna Puri also interacted with district officials, EROs and AEROs to understand the revision process and offered guidance to address the grievances with due diligence and promptness for healthy and robust Photo Electoral Roll.

The Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll is being carried out to ensure that all eligible citizens are enrolled in the electoral roll and have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.
The meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer, Ramban Abdul Jabar, ACR (ERO) Ramban, S Harpal Singh, SDM (ERO) Banihal Rizwan Asgar, ACP Ramban (Nodal Officer SVEEP) Ashfaq Khanji, AEROs and other concerned officials.
