Rainawari residents demand release of expert committee report on land sinking incident

Srinagar, Aug 7: The locals from Khwajapora, Rainawari Srinagar on Wednesday urged the authorities to publicize the report finalized by the expert committee to ascertain the details about land sinking and also suggest remedial measures.
The locals from the area said they have requested the authorities to publicize the report prepared by the expert committee to ascertain the details and suggest remedial measures concerning their houses, which developed cracks on June 17.
“Our houses developed cracks on June 17, and since then, we have been waiting for officials to release their version on it. Despite an expert committee being formed, which was supposed to present its report within a week, it has now been more than two months, and no report has been issued,” said Muneer, a local from the area.
He added that they continuously visit officials regarding this matter of land sinking but are only being asked to run from pillar to post. “We have visited officials from the Srinagar administration many times, but we are only asked to meet different officials, and no information is being shared with us regarding the expert report,” he said.
In this regard, when contact ADC Srinagar Syed Ahmad Katariya, he said they had finished the report and submitted it to the Divisional Commissioner for further action. “We have completed the primary investigation and have submitted the expert committee report to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir. Once any guidelines are issued from there, we will forward them to the concerned parties,” he said. (KNO)
