Growing population, growing challenges

The road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir is being built at par with rest parts of India for the first time, but dozens of pivotal bridges that are the long pending demands of the local populace have not been constructed yet, thus paving way for the accidents as happened in the past. Many lives have been lost in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the Valley in absence of the bridges here, but one fails to understand why the work started over these bridges have not been completed and left midway. The snail’s pace of work going on for the completion of these bridges have been pushing the people to the wall, but unfortunately there seems no seriousness in this regard from the administration side. The cries and sobs of the Batwara incident are still fresh for the people as one of the bodies have not been traced yet since the incidents took place. However, the particular bridge that was assured to be completed at the shortest possible has not been completed yet, thereby pushing the locals there to use the water transport like Shikaras to cross the river Jhelum, which has witnessed a deadly accident that left eight people dead a few months back. It is the time when the government, especially the concerned department should take appropriate measures in this regard and ensure that the bridges that are awaiting completion for a long time will be completed as soon as possible. These bridges would provide a sigh of relief to the common masses.
