Bijbehara, Aug 14: Two labourers died and another was injured after they came under a huge sand slide at Gadhanchipora area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag on Wednesday, officials said.
An official said that a group of three people came under the sand slide in Gadhanjipora during extraction of sand.
He said soon after a rescue operation was launched and those who got buried under the sand slide were rescued and shifted to a nearby hospital.
“Among three laborers, two succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.”
The deceased have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ali Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Kaigam, and Mohammad Altaf Khan, son of Mohammad Syed Khan, a resident of Kherh Traith, Rajouri.
The injured has been identified as Abdul Rehman, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin.
Meanwhile, police has taken cognizance of the incident.
