While the influx of tourists to Jammu and Kashmir has been increasing with each passing day, the people visiting Srinagar via different airlines are being pushed to the wall at the Srinagar International Airport where the parking charges are being asked to those people who left the venue within a couple of minutes. The orders in this regard were issued earlier, which states that the vehicle will be mapped at entry point and will be allowed a reasonable time of 14-minutes to enter the airport for drop off and pick up of passengers. However, after a few days, the people as per the media reports have been claiming that they have been charged to pay the parking charges even after leaving the airport within three minutes only. The complaints have also brought the trade leader together, who even issues a statement seeking a proper mechanism in this regard. The traders have stated that this undesirable new parking system needs attention from the authorities as they had informed the authority about the harassment caused by this system to people from all kinds of walks. Such a situation is being faced by one and all, thus the tourists visiting the Valley are also being forced to pay despite leaving the airport within the shortest possible time. At this juncture, the concerned authorities as well as the district administration need to look into the matter and ensure that the people leaving the airport within 15 minutes are not forced to pay any charges.
